The recent Microsoft outage stemmed from a significant
networking issue within the Europe, Middle East, and
Africa (EMEA) region. This problem disrupted access to
multiple Microsoft 365 services, affecting users primarily
in South Africa and the United Kingdom. The services most
impacted were Outlook, server connections, and website
access. Microsoft identified the problem as a critical
fault in the network's routing infrastructure, which
caused widespread service interruptions.
What Is The Issue?
How Big It Is?
CrowdStrike had a market capitalization of approximately
$86 billion as of Thursday’s close, positioning it as the
second-largest pure-play cybersecurity stock in the U.S.
market, with only Palo Alto Networks being larger. Its
share price has more than doubled over the past year.
Initially known for its dominance in endpoint
security—securing connections between corporate networks
and employee devices—CrowdStrike has expanded into cloud
security, identity protection, and analytics.
In its latest earnings report, the Texas-based company
announced a 33% revenue increase compared to the same
period last year, attributing the growth to more companies
adopting its cybersecurity platform.
Given that the bug is caused by an update to CrowdStrike Falcon software, chances are that another update should fix it soon. But for now CrowdStrike is offering a manual solution in a note to its customers. It apparently says that to fix the CrowdStrike Windows 10 BSOD issue, the following 4 steps are needed:
Boot Windows into Safe Mode or WRE.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike
Locate and delete file matching "C-00000291*.sys"
Boot normally.
